American superstar Serena Williams is set to take on her compatriot Danielle Collins in a
2021 French Open third-round match on June 4.
Williams reached this stage of the Roland Garros after eliminating Romanian duo of Irina-Camelia Begu and Mihaela Buzărnescu.
The 39-year-old is hoping to go all the way and clinch her fourth French Open title having won the tournament in 2002, 2013 and 2015.
The accomplished player is looking forward to facing Collins and she described her rival as an awesome person.
"She's been playing well. She's also a really awesome person off the court. I love seeing her in the locker room," Williams said.
"Ideally, it would be great if we didn't have to play each other because I always want her to do super well."
Meanwhile, Collins booked her place in the third round after securing wins over Chinese star Wang Xiyu and Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina.

The 27-year-old has never won a Grand Slam title and her best performance in a major tournament came at the 2019 Australian Open where she reached the semi-finals.
This will be the second meeting between Williams and Collins in competitive matches.
Both women took a set each, before Williams won the match tiebreak 10-6 in the 2021 Yarra Valley Classic quarter-final match in February.
The winner between Williams and Collins will take on either Russian player Elena Vesnina or Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina in the French Open in the fourth round.
