South Africa’s DStv Premiership will wrap up the 2020-21 season with a final round of matches around the country on the afternoon of Saturday 5 June 2021, with all eight fixtures kicking off at 15:00 CAT.

With Mamelodi Sundowns having wrapped up the league title two games prior, the focus will fall on the tussles to avoid the relegation playoff; and the fight to finish in the top eight.

As far as the playoffs are concerned, the team currently occupying the 15th spot is Chippa United, who face SuperSport United at home. They must win to have any chance of escaping, and hope that one or both of Stellenbosch (away to Golden Arrows) and Maritzburg United (home to AmaZulu) lose their games.

“Today we had too many players not performing to the level we know they can do,” said Maritzburg coach Ernst Middendorp after a 2-0 loss to SuperSport United in midweek. “On Saturday, our game at home, I want to see other players, I want to see [a different kind] of match.”

The top-eight tussle will be decided by a match between TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium. The Rockets are placed eighth and need to avoid defeat to ensure they hold onto the position, while the Amakhosi know that any win will see them leapfrog their opponents on goal difference.

There is also a slim chance that Baroka FC could beat both to the prize on goal difference, though they would need to rack up a huge win in their match away to Swallows FC.

“We treat every game with respect. As a team of Kaizer Chiefs’ calibre, we have to play to win every game. Things haven't been going well for us this season but we understand that it's just a phase. It's only ourselves who can get us out of this,” said Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane.

Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns will look to celebrate their fourth straight title with a win at home to Cape Town City; Orlando Pirates will aim to seal third place and qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup by avoiding defeat at home to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila; and Black Leopards (whose relegation has been confirmed) will look to go out of the top-flight league on a high with a win at home to Bloemfontein Celtic in Thohoyandou.
