With the Betway Big Easy Tour in full swing, South Africa’s Jordan Wessels will hope to close the gap on current tournament leader Daniel Smith when he takes to the Krugersdorp Golf Course in the Big Easy Tour 6 this week.
The latest instalment of the Big Easy Tour will take place in the Western suburb of Rant-En-Dal on Tuesday, with Wessels sitting in second position by Order of Merit on 556.32 points after eight tournaments played.
As it stands, England’s Daniel Smith leads the way at the top of the pile on 567.36 points, with his most notable showing coming at the Betway Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 2 where he finished the course in second spot on 28 April.
Wessels will tee off alongside Jaden Deltel and Daniel Palmquist in Match 26 in Krugersdorp as he targets his share of the R150 000 prize fund.
The South African golfer last featured at the Betway Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 3 where he finished in 23rd position at the Ruimsig Country Club between 7-9 July, while Werner Deyzel emerged victorious at the end of the showpiece.
Wessel’s most promising performance this season took place at the Betway Big Easy Blu Label Unlimited Invitational 1 at Killarney Country Club in April where he claimed seventh position overall.
The 21-year-old has thus accumulated over R48 000 in career prize money, while he notes 4.16 Birdies per round. As he hopes to kick on positively on the tour, Wessels recorded a total of 14 Eagles and 79 Birdies across his career.
