Matchday 2
Tanzania vs South Africa
Honneur Stadium, Oujdar

With matchday two at the
Women’s Africa Cup of Nations fast approaching, South Africa will hope for positive progress in Group C when they face Tanzania at the Honneur Stadium this Friday.
As a nation striving to defend the crown they had won for the first time in 2022, Banyana coach Desiree Ellis was full of praise of her side’s resilience during their preparation for the showpiece.
With their administrative hiccups being well documented in the last couple of weeks, Ellis believes Banyana have what it takes to rise above adversity.
“Banyana Banyana don’t get the credit that they deserve,” Ellis said.
“Through all the challenges and issues, they consistently rise to the occasion. They show resilience and courage.
“We have a group of players that can rise to the occasion. We have a group of players that never knows when to quit, It’s a group you can rely on; it doesn’t matter who comes in. A little more credit needs to come, because the players deserve that.”
Led by Bakari Shime, the Twiga Stars will face a tough task of making it out of Group C as they rub shoulders with Mali, South Africa and Ghana.
