Quarter-finals

Spain v Switzerland

Kick-off is at 21h00

Switzerland's participation as Euro 2025 hosts is in danger of coming to an end when they meet title favourites Spain in the quarter-finals at the Stadion Wankdorf on Friday, July 18.

The Red Crosses reached the knockout stages for the first time in their history after pipping Finland to the runners-up spot on goal difference in Group A.

Pia Sundhage's side, who failed to make it out of the group phase on their debut in 2017 and again in 2022, scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw with the Finns which booked their place in the last eight.

The Swiss got their campaign on home soil up and running with a 2-0 victory over Iceland after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Norway in their tournament opener.

La Roja are in fine fettle, having won Group B with a perfect record of three wins from three and scoring an impressive 14 goals - the most at the European showpiece.

Montserrat Tome's side signalled their intentions right from the start with a 5-0 demolition of Iberian neighbours Portugal and followed it up with a 6-2 rout of Belgium.

The reigning world champions then maintained their 100 per cent start as they came from behind to beat Italy 3-1 on July 11.

Tome has urged her players not to get carried away with their winning start and stressed the importance of keeping up the high standards they displayed in the group stages.

"We've started very well, we're meeting the objectives we set for ourselves, and we have to keep working, keep being patient - above all, stay humble - and now look ahead to the next match," Tome said.

Sundhage described the scenes after their draw with Finland as "unreal" and insists her team fully deserves to go down in the history books following a memorable performance in Geneva.

"It's unreal, unbelievable. This is football, actually. When we scored the equaliser and the final whistle, those are things I will always remember. It was fantastic!

"This team - this country - deserves this history. Hopefully, we have another good game in the quarter-finals. We're going to do our very best and make Switzerland proud."
