2022 Football Pre-Season

Club Friendly

Manchester United v Liverpool FC

Kick-off is at 3 pm

Manchester United will square off with Liverpool FC in a high-profile pre-season friendly match at the Rajamangala National Stadium on July 12.

The Red Devils ended the ‪2021-22 season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace away in a Premier League game which was played on May 22.

Therefore, United are winless in their last two matches across all competitions having recorded two consecutive defeats including a 4-0 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Liverpool ended their ‪2021-22 campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to Spain's Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final game which was played on May 28.

The defeat ended the Reds' 18-match unbeaten run across all competitions having registered three draws and 15 victories before taking on Madrid.

Rhys Williams, the Liverpool defender, has stated that they are looking forward to impressing the club's manager Jurgen Klopp when they face United.

“All the lads are looking forward to going out there; it’s not only a good experience going to play United in these countries but also the cultural side of things," Williams said.

“You get to experience different things and places that we probably wouldn’t normally go if we were just off on off-season. It’s always good to go and experience these things. If I can impress here and then the gaffer wants me to stay, that’s a bonus.

"But if my game time might come somewhere else, I have to showcase what I can do on these big stages, even if it is a pre-season friendly because it’s still against massive clubs in the Premier League.”

This will be the 210th meeting between United and Liverpool since their maiden match on 12 October 1895.

United lead in the head-to-head record between the two teams, with 81 wins to Liverpool's 70; the remaining 58 matches have finished as draws.
