The 67th edition of The American Express is scheduled to take place in a desert resort city in Riverside County, California, USA, called La Quinta, between 22 and 25 January.
What to know about The American Express
Founded in 1960 as the Palm Springs Golf Classic, the tournament has also been known as the CareerBuilder Challenge, the Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, and the Humana Challenge over the years.
Played in mid-winter in the Coachella Valley, the tournament is part of the tour's early-season "West Coast Swing," and it is currently known as The American Express since 2020 due to sponsorship reasons.

This year's The American Express field is headlined by the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Russell Henley, Justin Rose, Robert MacIntyre, Ben Griffin, Alex Noren and Harris English.
Sepp Straka, who is the defending champion, will be part of the 156-player field, while the 2024 winner Nick Dunlap will also tee off in La Quinta.
What is at stake
The American Express has a total purse of $9,2 million (R165.6 million), with the winner receiving $1,66 million (R29.8 million).
It also offers 500 FedExCup points to the winner (as a standard non-signature PGA Tour event), with OWGR points also at stake based on the strong field, though exact OWGR allocation varies by participant rankings and is not a fixed total.

“With these latest commitments, the 2026 edition of The American Express will feature some of the best and most cherished golfers in the world,” said Tournament Director Pat McCabe.
“We are so excited to have Scottie Scheffler return after missing last year due to an injury. I know the fans will be thrilled to see the defending PGA Champion and Champion Golfer of the Year star in the Coachella Valley.
"Having Adam Scott and Matt Fitzpatrick make their debuts here will be quite special too.”
