City maintained a 10-point lead atop the league standings with a 1-0 win over Arsenal last weekend. The Cityzens have won 13 matches on the trot since a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom in mid December and are now clear favourites to win the Premier League this season.

"The record will be broken one day, we will lose games," City manager Pep Guardiola said after their victory at Emirates Stadium.

"I'm surprised and impressed and so when everyone is suffering in this world, all the teams in the league are dropping points, we were consistent over the past two months.

"People talk and talk about the record and the victories but to do this you have to win these types of games many, many times."

West Ham have arguably been this season's surprise package and built on their upturn in results in 2021 with a 2-1 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, to move back into fourth spot.

Having fought relegation towards the back end of the previous campaign, David Moyes is over the moon with his team's current run of results and is dreaming of Uefa Champions League football.

"We are really excited about it because this time last year we were worried sick we were going to get relegated, so we are thrilled about it," Moyes told reporters.

"But the biggest thing for me is we can play much better and that is the bit that excites me and makes me think there is still better to come.

"To win this one [versus Spurs] was really important because of the games we have got coming up.

"I said a few weeks ago if we can hang in there then we can look at it a bit further down the line.

"What we are trying to do is stay away from the question of 'Chelsea didn't win or somebody else didn't win' because where we are is an incredible position at this time of the year. We have shown incredible form in 2021."
