Everton look to shoot down the Eagles

2019/20 Premier League

Round 26, part I

8-9 February 2020

Everton will go in search of a home win when they welcome Crystal Palace to Goodison Park on Saturday 8 February 2020, kick-off at 14:30. The match is one of four spread from 8 to 9 February as part of the 26th round of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Everton come into the match on the back of a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 victory away to Watford last weekend, with Yerry Mina netting twice and Theo Walcott scoring a late winner.

“It was a difficult game because Watford are a strong team, but this can help us have more confidence for the future. This is a really competitive league, so we don't have to think too much beyond the next game against Crystal Palace,” explained manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Palace, meanwhile, saw their winless run across all competitions extended to seven matches with a 1-0 loss at home to Sheffield United. A slip toward the relegation zone is a major worry for the Eagles.

Manager Roy Hodgson leapt to the defence of goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, whose own goal was the difference against the Blades: "We have 30 points from 25 games and without you and the work you have done, we would have a damn sight less.

"In actual fact he owes us nothing. We owe him an enormous debt and we are saddened people will look at this not knowing how good he is, how much he has done and blame him, but no-one at the football club will attach any blame to him.”

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

In head-to-head stats, Everton and palace have met in 50 previous matches. The Toffees have claimed 20 wins compared to 13 for the Eagles, while 17 games have been drawn.

When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at Selhust Park in August 2019, they played out a goalless stalemate.
