The Baggies head into the encounter on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to West Ham United last week, which left them rooted to 19th place on the league standings, six points from safety.

In stark contrast, the Cityzens are on a six-game winning run since a 1-1 draw against West Brom at Etihad Stadium last month. Victory at the Hawthorns will move the Manchester club top of the standings.

"Noone else has won five, six in a row but it's still the first leg of the season. A lot of games to go but the important thing is that the feeling is good," said Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following his side's 2-0 win over Aston Villa last week.

"It was a very good performance again, against a top side. They are very dangerous and just look at their results this season. A big victory," added the Spaniard.

A Ruben Dias own goal cancelled out Ilkay Gundogan's opener in a 1-1 draw between the two clubs earlier this season. That match ended an incredible 13-game winning run in this fixture for the Cityzens who beat their opponents 3-2 on their most recent trip to West Bromwich.
