Bournemouth will look to add to Manchester United’s struggles in the 2019/20 Premier League when the teams meet at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday 2 November, kick-off at 14:30 CAT. The match is one of 10 across England’s top flight this coming weekend.

Bournemouth will have been disappointed with their last result, having been held 0-0 at bottom-of-the-log Watford last weekend – though it was still a valuable point on the road for the Cherries.

Manager Eddie Howe insists his team need to sharpen up in their finishing if they are to rise further up the Premier League table: “The chances were there for us. There were various moments where potentially we could have done better.”

He added, “The beauty of it is we are improving defensively and I’ve had that feeling all season, we’re getting better from a structure and confidence thing. But it’s a two-way thing with the attacking and we’ll have to go away and improve that.”

Manchester United finally got back on the winning trail away from home, as they defeated Norwich City 3-1 at Carrow Road thanks to goals from Scot McTominay, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed the return of Martial from injury: “It was a great finish by Anthony. He’s vital for us. He’s a top striker and to have him back; fit, smiling and enjoying his football, of course, is a big thing for us.

Solskjaer added, “He’s clever in his movement and he’s not been given credit for his defending, clever defending. We feel Anthony is an important player for us and we felt the effects of him not being there. We’re pleased to have him back and scoring goals.”

Bournemouth striker Joshua King

In head-to-head stats, Bournemouth and Man United have met in just eight previous matches. The Red Devils have claimed six wins compared to one for the Cherries, while on game has been drawn.

The teams’ two Premier League meetings last season saw United complete a league ‘double’, as they won 2-1 on the South Coast in November 2018 and 4-1 in the return game at Old Trafford in December of the same year.
