2025-26 Italian Serie A

Matchday 2

Parma v Atalanta

Stadio Ennio Tardini

Parma, Italy

Saturday, 30 August 2025

Kick-off is at 18h30

Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric will be looking for a response from his team when they make the journey south to take on Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday, August 30.

Juric replaced the long-serving Gian Piero Gasperini at the helm in the off-season, but kicked off his reign with a 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Pisa on August 24.

La Dea had to come from behind to clinch a share of the spoils at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia after Gianluca Scamacca (50') cancelled out Isak Hien's 26th-minute own-goal for the Nerazzurri.

The Crusaders endured a disappointing 2024-25 campaign as they finished just five points above the relegation zone in 16th place.

However, Parma did manage to beat Atalanta 3-2 on the final day of the season, having suffered a 3-1 defeat in the corresponding fixture on November 23.

Carlos Cuesta, who took over the reins from Cristian Chivu in June, began his tenure with a 2-0 loss at Juventus on August 24.

Cuesta hailed a courageous display from his players against Juve and believes they will grow as the campaign progresses after seeing some positives in the game.

"I definitely liked the team spirit, the unity, the courage," the Spaniard said. "We've had a lot of situations in terms of our game, where there were certain situations that would certainly have been difficult to develop, and we had moments where we pressed higher up the pitch, and other moments where we could have had more possession and built more patiently and slowly to progress more compactly.

"We would have liked to increase the frequency of these events, attacking deep towards goal, to be more dominant in the opposition's penalty area, but we know who we're playing against and that Juventus is a very strong team and will compete for the championship until the end. For us, it's a growth path where we must take today's positives and do better."

Juric was pleased with the performance against Pisa and insisted a goal was all that was missing on the day after they created numerous chances in the game.

"I think we had a great second half. We created loads of chances and the goal was the only thing lacking tonight," the Croatian said.

"I really think we created a lot and played really well, but we just couldn't put it in the net. In the end, that's how it goes - if you don't score you pay for it."
