The second round of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season takes place in midweek, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Royal AM looking to build on their opening-day wins.

The action gets underway on Tuesday as newly-promoted Richards Bay welcome Marumo Gallants to the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.

The Natal Rich Boyz began life in the top flight with a 2-0 victory at Golden Arrows on Saturday to go joint-top with Mamelodi Sundowns in the standings. Gallants picked up a point first up after holding Stellenbosch to a goalless draw in Polokwane on the same day.

Cape Town City will look to get their campaign up and running when they make the journey to Dobsonville Stadium to take on Swallows.

The Citizens fell to a 2-0 opening-day defeat to Sundowns in Cape Town on Friday, while the Dube Birds were beaten 1-0 by Orlando Pirates in a Soweto derby the following day.

Kaizer Chiefs will also be searching for their first points when they entertain Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium.

The Glamour Boys went down 1-0 to Royal AM in Durban on Saturday as the Team of Choice shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United in Pietermaritzburg.

Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane is convinced his team is on the right track despite suffering a third successive defeat against Thwihli Thwahla.

"I'm telling you now, we're rebuilding this team and we're going to get it right," Zwane said. "We're going to win some games and we're going to win with flair and win much better. Even today (Saturday) we were a better team by far."

Wednesday sees defending champions Sundowns looking to make it two wins from two when they face TS Galaxy at Loftus Versfeld.

The Rockets put their first point on the board when they played out to a goalless draw with AmaZulu in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Brazilians co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi was pleased to come away from the Mother City with maximum points, citing that Eric Tinkler's side are difficult to beat in their own backyard.

"We appreciate that we are going home with the three points," Mngqithi said. "It's not an easy trip this one, and I am sure that it will also help us in the future to have come here and gotten the three points. I am sure not many people will come here and get the three points."

Meanwhile, Royal AM will be hoping to keep pace with Masandawana at the top of the table when they lock horns with Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

New Chilli Boys head coach Daine Klate kicked off his tenure with a 1-1 draw at SuperSport United on Sunday, which saw him come up against his mentor, Gavin Hunt, who coached him at Matsatsantsa and Bidvest Wits.

Hunt's SuperSport visit AmaZulu, while Golden Arrows will be looking to bounce back against Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Fresh from their derby success, Pirates head to the Cape Winelands to do battle with Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Key to their triumph over Swallows at the weekend was Richard Ofori, with the Ghanaian goalkeeper making a few crucial saves to keep the opposition at bay.

New Bucs head coach Jose Riveiro praised Ofori's contribution before adding that his team should have put the game to bed in the second half.

"Ofori made a couple of super saves in the second half," Riveiro said. "We had a few transitions and chances to score in the second half. We should have definitely won by more than 1-0."
