Betway Premiership Fixtures - Matchday 27

2024/25 Betway Premiership
Matchday 27

26-27 April 2025

The battle for a top-eight finish in the Betway Premiership remains intense as AmaZulu, Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows scramble to qualify for the MTN 8.

AmaZulu will be looking to avoid a fifth defeat in six games when they lock horns with Golden Arrows in a KZN derby at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Usuthu have seen their top-three hopes dashed after winning just one of their last five matches, with a 1-0 reverse to Stellenbosch on April 15 leaving them seven points adrift of the final CAF berth in seventh position.

Abafana Bes'thende are pushing for a top-half finish in the league and a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants on April 19 extended their unbeaten run to three outings and kept them two points behind Kaizer Chiefs in 10th spot.

Kaizer Chiefs will be desperate to get back on the winning trail when they welcome improving Marumo Gallants to the FNB Stadium in a concurrent fixture.

The Glamour Boys are just about clinging onto eighth place despite going winless in their last five encounters, having played out to a 0-0 draw with Chippa United most recently on April 19.

Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi questioned the mentality of his players after the stalemate against the Chilli Boys, saying: "To be honest with you, we didn't deserve to win this game. To win this game, you must be ready for every challenge; you must be number one for the ball. I think mentally we were not ready for this game."

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa (13th) took another step towards survival with the point they earned against Arrows last time out, which saw them open up a four-point gap to the promotion/relegation place on the back of a four-match unbeaten sequence.

Meanwhile, beleaguered SuperSport United will be hoping to stop the rot against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Matsatsantsa are in danger of having to navigate the playoffs as they bring up the rear in the standings after winning just one of their last 10 games. They were last in action against Gallants on April 5 when Andre Arendse picked up the second point of his tenure following a 1-1 draw.

Arendse insists his players need to remain calm in the face of adversity, saying: "It's very easy to fall into panic mode, you know, when you look at the league table. But we have to stay as far away as possible from panic. I know that the games are running out, but this is what we are used to. This is what we know and I think that it's a matter of time before we win games."

Rise And Shine's CAF challenge suffered another damaging blow with a 2-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United on April 19. Phuti Mohafe's side have now lost four of their last five games to sit six points adrift of Babina Noko in sixth position.

In the only fixture scheduled for Sunday, April 27, TS Galaxy will attempt to put a dent in Sekhukhune United's CAF ambitions when they go head-to-head at the Dobsonville Stadium.

The Rockets are hoping to arrest a three-game winless streak after they went down 2-1 to Magesi on April 20 to slip four points behind Eric Tinkler's side in fifth spot.

The Limpopo club climbed above Stellenbosch into third place courtesy of the win over local rivals Polokwane, their third in four outings.
