The Eagles go into the fixture against the league's runaway leaders having endured an inconsistent season which has kept them firmly between 10th and the relegation places for most of the campaign. Palace lost 2-1 at Leicester City on Monday to remain in 13th spot.

City sit 10 points clear atop the league standings following a 2-1 win over Aston Villa and will make the trip to south London having already won the Carabao Cup this season.

“We know exactly what we need, it’s to play like today [aganist Aston Villa], it’s a hugely important victory,” Cityzens boss Pep Guardiola said following their win at Villa Park.

“When you arrive in the last five games depending just on yourself, it is a good boost, good credit.

“I saw the team, we were committed and after our two defeats against Leeds United, against Chelsea [in the FA Cup] we knew how important it was.

“It’s [the Premier League title] close, the most difficult for many reasons, season of our lives, like all the clubs.”

City thumped Palace 4-0 in the reverse fixture at Etihad Stadium earlier this season. John Stones, who was sent off at Villa last week, scored a brace for the Manchester club.
