WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO light middleweight world champion Julian Williams will put his titles on the line when he faces Jeison Rosario on Saturday.

The American boxer (27-1-1, 16 KOs) clinched his titles after defeating his countryman Jarred Hurd at EagleBank Arena, Fairfax, Virginia, U.S.A on the 11th of May 2019.

Williams is ranked as the world’s best active light middleweight by The Ring magazine and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, and third by BoxRec.

The 29-year-old fighter has indicated that he cannot afford to underestimate Rosario, who is only 24 years old.

“Rosario brings ambition to the table. I think he’s an ambitious kid. I don’t think it’s a difficult fight [for me], to be quite honest," Williams said on The Philadelphia Tribune.

"I just think it’s a matter of being focused and on top of my game, and I think I’ll take care of him. I don’t think it’s difficult, though.

"He’s a decent fighter. We’re not going to make him out to be Ray Robinson."

Meanwhile, Rosario is keen to win world titles for the first time in his professional career.

The Dominican Republic boxer (19-1-1, 13 KOs) is relatively unknown in the boxing world and he has a chance to make a name for himself.

His last fight took place on the 20th of April 2019 against Mexican boxer Jorge Cota and Rosario won by split-decision.

Rosario, who is based in Miami, U.S.A, suffered his only professional defeat against American fighter Nathaniel Gallimore on the 29th of April 2017.

The winner between Williams and Rosario is likely to challenge American fighter Jermell Charlo, who is the WBC light middleweight world champion.
