We take a look at the top 10 batsmen with the highest One Day International (ODI) sixes in history.
 

10. Ricky Pointing

Total Number of ODI Sixes:162
 
The cricket legend was a specialist right-handed batsman, who captained Australian during its 'golden era'; between 2004 and 2011 in Tests and 2002 and 2011 in ODIs.
 
Ponting, who was known as an aggressive competitor, holds several cricket records and he is the only player to have been involved in the most ODI victories as a player, with 262 wins.
 
"When the one-day leadership duties were passed over to Ricky in South Africa, my main piece of advice to him was, 'Make sure you take care of your own game and maintain your form, because everything else will follow from that,'" Steve Waugh on Pointing replacing him as Australia captain. 
 
"Since assuming the mantle, Punter has shown himself to be among the top three batsmen in the world in both forms of the game, and has elevated his hunger and desire for runs to a level most can only aspire to."

The reigning ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year is one of the best batsmen in the world and he is the vice-captain of the Indian national team in limited-overs formats.
 
Considered to be an aggressive batsman with style and elegance, Sharma is the only cricketer in the history of cricket to score more than one ODI double-hundred, having scored three of them.
 

8. Sourav Ganguly

The current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India was one of the world's leading batsmen and he is also one of India's most successful captains.
 
Nicknamed God Of The Offside as he used to hit powerful shots to the off-side on front and back foot with equal ease, Ganguly was the third batsman in history to cross the 10,000 run landmark.
 

7. Sachin Tendulkar

The former captain of the Indian national team is considered to be the world's most prolific batsman of all-time and he is the first player to score a double century in an ODI.
 
Known for his unique punch style of hitting the ball over the square, Tendulkar is the holder of the record for the most runs in both Test and ODI, and the only player to complete more than 30,000 runs in international cricket.

6. Brendon McCullum

The New Zealand legend played all formats, and he is also a former captain in all forms and holds several reveals records in Twenty20 International.
 
McCullum, who was an aggressive batsman, is the first and so far only one of the two players to have scored two Twenty20 International centuries and 2000 runs in T20 Internationals (apart from Martin Guptill).
 

5. AB de Villiers

4. MS Dhoni

The cricket icon is the only captain in the history of the sport to win all ICC trophies as he led India to the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
 
Dhoni, who was a powerful hitter of the ball, is one of the highest run-scorers in ODIs with more than 10,000 runs scored and is considered an effective "finisher" in limited-overs formats.
 

3. Chris Gayle

The West Indies superstar has set numerous records across all three formats of the game and he is one of the best batsmen ever in Twenty20 (T20) cricket.
 
Gayle is the most capped player for the West Indies in international cricket and is the only player to score a triplet of centuries – a triple hundred in Tests, double hundred in ODIs and a hundred in T20Is.
 

2. Sanath Jayasuriya

The Sri Lankan legend was well known for his powerful striking and match-winning all-round performances in ODI cricket between 1989 and 2011.
 
Jayasuriya is the only player to score over 13,000 runs and capture more than 300 wickets in ODI cricket, and hence regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the history of limited-overs cricket.

The Pakistani icon enjoyed a lot of success as a bowler and batsman, and he is the world record holder for the fastest ODI century in 37 deliveries.
 
Afridi, who holds the distinction of having hit the most sixes in the history of ODI cricket (351), had a general style of batting is very aggressive and attack-oriented.
