Stage set for 2020 MLB playoffs

The 2020 Major League Baseball (MLB) playoff wildcard series will take centre stage between 02 and 08 October.
 
Atlanta Braves are set to take on the Cincinnati Reds in a battle between two National League teams on October 03. 
 
The Braves eased into the playoffs after finishing at the top of the National League East having accumulated 35 wins.

While the Reds finished third in the National League Central after registering 31 victories in the regular season.
 
Reds pitching coach Derek Johnson says their pitchers Michael Lorenzen, Tejay Antone and Wade Miley will give the team options in the playoffs. 
 
“Michael's pitched really well in kind of a dual role. Tejay Antone is pretty stretched out. Miley is probably less than those two, but nonetheless, he is stretched out," Johnson said.
 
"We do have some options that way that are kind of unique. They became unique almost by circumstance more than because that's what we planned on doing.

"Michael put himself in a position to get a start or two and was really, really good. Now, all of a sudden, you have different options, you have different weapons that you think you can use.”
 
Meanwhile, Cleveland Indians are scheduled to face their American League rivals New York Yankees on October 05.
 
The Indians secured their place in the playoffs after finishing second in the American League Central with 35 victories.

On the other hand, the Yankees registered 33 wins and they were runners-up in the American League East, and they are one of the favourites to win this year's MLB championship.
 
San Diego Padres will square off with St Louis Cardinals in the National League tie on October 06.
 
The Padres advanced to the playoffs after finishing second behind Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West with 27 victories.
 
While the Cardinals reached this stage after securing a second spot finish in the National League Central having recorded 30 wins.
