19-21 March 2021

The Soweto Derby clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will headline this weekend's DStv Premiership action

Chiefs will play host to Pirates at the iconic FNB Stadium on Sunday, March 21 and it will be the 100th league meeting between the two local giants.

Chiefs have won 40 matches compared to Pirates' 23 while the remaining 36 games have ended in draws.

Their last league game ended in a 2-1 win in favour of Pirates in January 2021 at the Mecca of South African football, Orlando Stadium.

Pirates legend Benedict Vilakazi is hoping that the Soweto Derby doesn't distract his former side ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup clash with Nigeria's Enyimba on Wednesday.

“The derby will be played at the weekend, but it’s time for the players to put their focus on the Confed Cup," Vilakazi said.

"They must focus on it and use it to build confidence for the derby. Pirates have the quality needed to beat Enyimba. It’s up to the players how they will treat this game.

"They did well by taking a point away from home against Setif. The home game is a must-win for them. If you don’t win your home matches you won’t progress to the knockout stages."

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns are set to play host to Black Leopards at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, March 21.

This will be the 19th competitive game between the two teams since 2005 and Sundowns have claimed 15 wins compared to Leopards' three.

Sundowns won the last meeting between the two teams as they secured a 2-1 victory in a league game in January 2021.

The action will start on Friday, March 19 with SuperSport Unite travelling to the Danie Craven Stadium where they are set to face Stellenbosch FC.

Stellenbosch and SuperSport will clash for the fourth time in an official match with both teams having recorded one win each and one game ended in a draw.

Their last meeting ended in a 1-0 victory in favour of SuperSport in a league encounter in November 2020.

While TS Galaxy are scheduled to welcome Maritzburg United at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, March 20.

This will be the second official meeting between the two teams with Galaxy having claimed a 3-0 win over Maritzburg in their first-ever clash in January 2021.
