South Africa will face Cape Verde in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Estadio Nacional de Cabo Verde in Praia on Friday.

Bafana Bafana's last game was against Zambia in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in Lusaka almost two weeks ago and they lost 2-0.The defeat ended South Africa's five-match unbeaten run. They had recorded four consecutive victories and one draw which was against Zambia.

The last time South Africa won a match away was against Botswana. Bafana recorded a 2-0 win in the 2018 CHAN qualifier last month.Meanwhile, Cape Verde were defeated 1-0 by Uganda in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at home two months ago and it remains their last game.

This was the Blue Sharks' fourth defeat in their last five matches. The other game ended in a 2-0 away win over Luxembourg in a friendly match last March.

The last time Cape Verde won a match at home was against Kenya. The Blue Sharks won 2-0 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in November, 2015.

South Africa and Cape Verde have met three times. The former have dominated  winning two matches.
