18-19 September 2021

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.

Pirates are set to travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium where they are scheduled to face Chippa United on September 18.

The Buccaneers extended their unbeaten run to five matches in the league when they defeated Swallows FC 1-0 in their last game on September 11.

They are also undefeated in their last two home matches in the DStv Premiership having registered one win and one draw.

"We are in the process of trying to fix the team and most important is the performance," Pirates' co-interim coach Fadlu Davids said after their win over Swallows.

'If we can perform this way, with more fluidity in our attack, more domination from start to finish and be able to do it for a certain period, that would be good.

"We are looking at the bigger picture. The results give you that extra boost, that momentum to go into the next game."

Meanwhile, Chippa saw their four-match unbeaten run in this competition come to an end when they lost 1-0 to Royal AM away in their previous match on September 12.

The Chilli Boys are winless in their last four away matches in the league having registered three draws and one defeat.

While Sundowns will play host to TS Galaxy at the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue, Loftus Versfeld Stadium on September 19.

Masandawana extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches in the DStv Premiership when they claimed a 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs at home in their last game on September 12.

They are also unbeaten in their last six home matches having recorded five successive wins and one draw as the hosts.

On the other hand, Galaxy stretched their winless run to five matches in the league when they drew 2-2 with Lamontville Golden Arrows at home in their previous game on September 11.

The Rockets are also winless in their last three away matches in this competition having registered two defeats and one draw on the road.

Meanwhile, a wounded Chiefs side will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership when they host Royal AM at the FNB Stadium on September 18.

The Glamour Boys saw their four-match unbeaten run in the league come to an end when they succumbed to a defeat to Sundowns.

However, they are unbeaten in their last three home games having recorded two consecutive victories and one draw.

Chiefs will face a Royal AM side that is oozing with confidence after securing their first-ever win in the top flight league when they defeated Chippa after losing their first two games of the season.

Thwihli Thwahla were defeated by Swallows in their first-ever away game in the elite league and they will be keen to claim their maiden victory on the road against Chiefs.
