South Africa v England

2nd Test Match
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium
Rawalpindi, Pakistan
4-8 February 2021

Pakistan and South Africa will clash in the second and final Test match in Rawalpindi between 4 and 8 February.

The Shaheens of Pakistan are coming into this match oozing with confidence after they won the 1st Test match last month.

Fawad Alam inspired the Shaheens to a seven-wicket win in a Test match which was played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

A century from Alam gave Pakistan an 88-run first-innings lead from unlikely beginnings against South Africa.

The Shaheens began the second day in trouble on 4-33 in response to South Africa's 220 all out.

But Alam led an impressive fightback with a fine 109 as Pakistan reached 8-308 at stumps and the batsman was named Man of the Match.

South African star Quinton de Kock played in his 50th Test and his teammate Kagiso Rabada took his 200th wicket in Tests.

Proteas duo of Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi took two wickets apiece for South Africa, who are playing in Pakistan for the first time since 2007.

Top-middle-order batsman Hendrik “Rassie” van der Dussen, who is touring Pakistan for the first time, faced the media on Monday ahead of the 2nd Test match.

The 31-year-old discussed their defeat to the Shaheens and explained where they need to improve as they seek revenge.

“It is difficult to pinpoint. I think it sort of goes down to the fundamentals of building an innings‚ getting in and giving yourself the best chance for those first 20 or 30 balls‚” Van der Dussen said.

“It’s a bit of conglomerate of circumstances‚ I don’t think there’s one correct answer. It is something we are going to rectify. In terms of pinpointing why.

"Its difficult‚ maybe you can put it down to good bowling‚ maybe you can put it down to a little bit of indecision.”
