After a defeat in their most recent
Serie A outing, Napoli will hope to return to the winning column when they face Genoa on home soil on Sunday.
Napoli ended the weekend in second place on the league table following a 2-1 loss to AC Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
Antonio Conte’s men went into their game against Milan on a four match winning streak as they put Sassuolo, Cagliari, Fiorentina and Pisa behind them in an impressive charge at the top of the table.
Currently sitting on 12 points, Napoli thus allowed Milan to move into first place as both sides share the same tally after five games played.
Speaking after the game against Juventus, Napoli coach Antonio Conte believes that his side are too frail defensively as they look to retain their Serie A title.
“It’s a pity we conceded so early, the team as a whole could’ve done better on both those situations,” Conte said.
“Starting at San Siro and being a goal down after four minutes is not easy. We played our game overall, I liked the team in the first half too, we pressed Milan very high, created scoring opportunities, but there’s work to do, because we’ve been conceding too many goals lately.
"If you look at the two against Pisa and the two today, they are adding up.”
Genoa on the other hand, are yet to break their stuttering start to the game and will be in action against Lazio at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Monday night.
Prior to their Matchday five obligations, Genoa sat in 17
th place, level on points (2) with Parma, Pisa and Lecce in the relegation zone.
Genoa are currently on a run of two losses and two draws in their opening four matches played in the 2025/26 Serie A season.
