Villarreal will be looking to build on their first win in three
La Liga games when they welcome Rayo Vallecano to La Ceramica on Saturday, November 1 in the early kick-off.
The Yellow Submarine arrested a four-match winless run in all competitions after beating Valencia 2-0 on October 25 to keep only their fourth clean sheet of the season in the Spanish top flight.
Marcelino's side, who have only failed to score once in 10 league outings, closed within two points of Barcelona in third place and are seven points off the summit.
The Red Sashes continued their resurgence with a 1-0 victory over Alaves on October 26 which extended their winning streak to three games.
Rayo had gone on a six-match winless run since they ran out 3-1 victors over Girona on the opening weekend of the campaign and now find themselves two points outside the European berths in seventh spot.
Inigo Perez's side have only picked up four points from their last five visits to Villarreal, but they came away with a 1-1 draw most recently on 18 December 2024.
Marcelino has a positive outlook after his team's opening 10 matches yielded 20 points - only bettered by Real Madrid and Barca, although he still sees room for improvement.
"We are very proud and pleased with what we have done so far," the Spaniard said. "We had a demanding schedule. We have collected 20 points out of a possible 30, facing top sides while also competing in the Champions League.
"We are very grateful to the players. In addition, I believe we still have room for improvement, which is very positive."
