Croatia look to defend Davis Cup

Croatia are set to defend their Davis Cup trophy in a tournament which will be played between November 18 and 24.
 
This will be the 108th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis.
 
Eighteen teams will participate in the finals and they have been divided into six groups of three.

Croatia are the defending champions and they have been pitted against Russia and tournament hosts Spain in Group B.
 
They have won the Davis Cup twice, in 2005 and in 2018, and they were runners-up in 2016.
 
One of Croatia's team members Borna Coric is looking forward to the tournament after overcoming his health problems.

"I am happy that I have been able to train my body to perform in Madrid because in the last six months, since Halle (Open), I have had a lot of health problems," Coric said on Glasistre.
 
"It will be a big challenge, it is a new format and we are not in the full squad, but it is the Davis Cup and anything can happen."

Meanwhile, USA remain the most decorated team in the history of the Davis Cup having won 32 titles.
 
They have been drawn against Canada and Italy in Group F and they will be hoping to go all the win and clinch their maiden title since 2007.
 
While Australia, who are the second most successful team in the history of the competition with 28 titles, are in Group D along with Colombia and Belgium.
 
Ten-time winners France find themselves in Group A along with Japan and a formidable Serbian team.
 
Lastly, Germany, Argentina and Chile find themselves in Group C, while Kazakhstan, the Netherlands and Great Britain are in Group E. 
 
The six group winners will advance to the knockout stage and they will be joined by the two second-best runner-ups.
