Sevilla will continue their fight for La Liga survival when they host Espanyol at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on the afternoon of Saturday 9 May 2026, kick-off at 16:15 CAT.
Sevilla took a crucial leap out of the relegation zone when they beat Real Sociedad on Monday, earning their second victory in four games to head into the weekend one point and one place above the bottom three.
New manager Luis García spoke of his great pride in the team claiming their first clean sheet of his five-match tenure (W2, L3), and adds that he is putting everything on the line to ensure their survival.
“I'm giving my all for Sevilla. I don't think I've ever put in more hours in my life... I mean it, I've never put in more hours in my life than I'm putting in now,” said Garcia.
Espanyol are four places and two points above Sevilla. They spent Christmas in fifth place but haven't won a single match since then.
Their 17-game winless run (D6, L11) is the second-longest such active sequence in Europe’s top-five divisions, with their latest setback a 2-0 loss at home to Real Madrid last weekend.
In head-to-head stats, Sevilla and Espanyol have met in 169 matches across all competitions. Los Nervionenses have claimed 83 wins compared to 53 for Los Periquitos, while 33 games have been drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was in La Liga in November 2025, with Espanyol winning 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Pere Milla and Roberto Fernandez.
