The 2023 Wells Fargo Championship is scheduled to take place in North Carolina between 4 and 7 May 2023. 
 
What to know about the tournament 
 
This tournament was established in 2003 as the Wachovia Championship and was known in 2009, and 2010 as the Quail Hollow Championship.
 
American financial services company, Wells Fargo started sponsoring the tournament in 2011 and it was voted by the players as “Best in Class” among events on the PGA Tour schedule in 2019.
 
Tournament News
 
Tournament officials have announced a collection of player commitments that includes ten of the top 25 players in the world, past champions, major champions, and rising stars who will compete in the Wells Fargo Championship.
 
Furthermore, two successful APGA Tour players—Marcus Byrd and Quinn Riley—have accepted special sponsor exemptions from Wells Fargo to compete in this year's event which will feature a 156-player field. 
 
Favourites 
 
Max Homa will defend his 2022 title and seek to match Rory McIlroy’s tournament-record three victories at the springtime PGA Tour stop. 
 
Homa is set to face stiff competition from the likes of McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick as well as Jordan Spieth.
 
Eight former Wells Fargo Championship winners Homa, McIlroy, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover, James Hahn, Brian Harman and J.B. Holmes will be present.
 
What Is At Stake 
 
The 2023 Wells Fargo Championship will offer Official World Golf Ranking points to the winner, with final points ratings determined ahead of the event teeing off on Thursday.
 
The tournament boasts a purse of $20 million and the winner of the event will earn their share of $3.6 million.
