“The situation is tough for us, but our aim tonight was still to win the game," Jose Mourinho, the Roma manager said after their draw with Bologna.

"We tried that, we wasted a few opportunities and then after that the game became much tougher for us. So that’s on us, we did not play well enough,

"But it is also on them because they played the sort of game they wanted to. And it’s also on the referee, who was never worried about the quality of the spectacle and let them do that.”

The last meeting between Fiorentina and Roma in a league match was on 28 August 2021.

Roma thrashed Fiorentina 3-1 in an entertaining encounter that produced four goals and it was played at the 1990 FIFA World Cup final venue, Stadio Olimpico.
