Honda rider Marc Marquez will be looking to mark his return from injury with a win at the 2021 Grande Premio MEO de Portugal on April 18.

The Spanish superstar broke his right arm in the first race of the 2020 season which was the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix in August 2020.

The injury ruled him out of the 2020 season after he retired at the next race, Andalusia Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucia and he also missed the first two races of the new 2021 campaign.

Marquez is widely considered to be one of the best riders in the world and he is a six-time MotoGP world champion having won his last title in 2019.

The 28-year-old will be playing catch-up in the 2021 season as he is placed at the bottom of the Riders' standings.

Marquez is 40 points behind Ducati's Johann Zarco, who is sitting at the top of the Riders' standings with 17 races left in the current campaign.

A win at the Grande Premio MEO de Portugal will put Marquez in a good position on the standings as he looks to go all the way and clinch his seventh MotoGP world title this year.

Marquez has been cleared by doctors and he says he is looking forward to competitive racing at the Grande Premio MEO de Portugal.

"It’s a great feeling to be returning to MotoGP, with my team and my bike. We have been working very hard to achieve this, many hours in the gym and with my physio Carlos," Marquez said.

"We would have liked to have been in Qatar, but finally my doctors advised me against it and I listened to them.

"I have really focused on listening to the doctors and understanding my body so that I can return to MotoGP and do what I love."

Yamaha are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Ducati and Suzuki respectively.
