Portugal look to Ronaldo to slay Switzerland

Portugal will lock horns with Switzerland in a UEFA Nations League Group A - League 2 match at the Estádio José Alvalade on June 5. 
 
The Navigators fought back to hold Spain to a 1-1 draw away in their previous Group A - League 2  game which was played on June 2.
 
The draw extended Portugal's unbeaten run to three matches across all competitions having registered one draws and two consecutive victories.
 
The Navigators lost to France in their home match in the Nations League and the defeat ended Portugual's five-match unbeaten run as the host.

"We needed more patience when we got to the danger zone and, from there, to try to take advantage of the space out wide," Portugal head coach Fernando Santos said.
 
"Thank God. I'm very happy, despite being sad about the result. I'm very happy because a Portugal draw with Spain is just an interesting result. Of course, it's not a good result for us, 
 
"But still good for us, for the working of this group, which leads people to believe that we can do more."
 
Meanwhile, Switzerland suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Switzerland away in their Group A - League 2 encounter which took place on June 2.

The Red Crosses are now winless in their last three matches across all competitions having recorded two defeats and one draw. 
 
Switzerland are also winless in their last five matches on the road in Nations League having recorded four defeats and one draw as the visitors. 
 
The last meeting between Portugal and Switzerland was on 5 June 2019.
 
Portugal secured a 3-1 win over Switzerland in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League game that was played at Estádio Do Dragão in Porto.
