As fans light up with excitement as the new
2026/27 campaign approaches, Milford FC and Kruger United will face a baptism of fire when they take on Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs respectively this weekend.
Pirates, who will be without PSL Player of the Season Relebohile Mofokeng, will face Milford FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena in their first league encounter of the campaign.
Bucs coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will thus hope that newly signed stars such as Sebastian Perdesen, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Neo Rapoo and Aphiwe Baliti will produce the goods this season, while Milford will hope to give a good account of themselves after gaining promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
Kaizer Chiefs will likewise take on Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday night.
Kruger reigned supreme in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, while Amakhosi showed character during the second-half of the campaign en-route to a third-place finish on the Betway Prem table.

CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns were originally scheduled to take on Marumo Gallants in their opening match, however, the game was subsequently postponed following the untimely death of midfielder Jayden Adams.
Elsewhere, Richards Bay and Polokwane City will take to the Richards Bay stadium on Sunday, with the former hoping to look past their 11
th place finish last time out.
Rise and Shine on the other hand, cracked the top eight during the 2025/26 season and eventually took seventh place, one point ahead of Durban City who will be away to Sekhukhune United on Saturday.
