Lucas Glover will be eager to become the fourth golfer to win back-to-back John Deere Classic titles when competes in Illinois.

Steve Stricker, Deane Beman and David Frost are the only people to have won back-to-back John Deere Classic trophies in the history of the tournament.

Glover, who is best known for winning the 2009 US Open, will be hoping to emulate the abovementioned legends by successfully defending the title this weekend.

The experienced American golfer has won four PGA Tour tournaments including the 2005 Funai Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Last year, Glover won the John Deere Classic by two shots and in the final round, he shot seven-under-par 64 - ending a drought of 10 years without a win on the PGA Tour.

Prior to that, Glover had defeated Jonathan Byrd in a playoff to win the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship and this was his first official win on Tour since the 2009 US Open.

The former Clemson University student, who is ranked 118th in the Official World Golf Rankings, is coming into John Deere Classic having finished 70th at the recent 2022 Travellers Championship.

“I think any time you win it's gratifying,” said Glover after winning last year's John Deere Classic.

“I've always been a big believer in there's nothing guaranteed in this game. It can be easy one day and be really, really, really hard the next.

“Yeah, it's been a difficult 10 years, but I never lost my faith, never lost my drive, never lost the self-belief," he added.

“No matter what anybody else says good or bad, it's still you, yourself, your inner peace and what you're telling yourself, what you believe every day.”

D.A Weibring and Steve Stricker are the most decorated golfers in the history of the John Deere Classic having won it a record three times each.
