Defending champions Golden State Warriors will face the Toronto Raptors in a National Basketball Association (NBA) match on January 28.

This will be the 52nd meeting between the two teams in regular-season games since 1995 when the Raptors were established.

The Warriors have dominated this fixture having recorded 31 wins compared to the Raptors' 20 victories from 51 matches.

Their last meeting was on 19 December 2022 in a match which took place at the Scotiabank Arena formerly known as Air Canada Centre (ACC) in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Led by Jordan Pooles career-high 43 points (14-23 FG), the Warriors defeated the Raptors, 126-110 while Draymond Green added 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the victory.

The Warriors are placed 10th on the Western Conference standings having registered 23 victories and 24 defeats from 47 matches.

Meanwhile, the Raptors find themselves 11th on the Eastern Conference standings having recorded 21 wins and 27 defeats from 48 games.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr lamented the Warriors' inability to close games after their 120-116 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets at Chase Center on Monday, January 23.

"Well, we're 23-24 for a reason, you know. We're not good enough yet to close games. We've got to get better. And so we make strides and feel like we're getting close and then we have a lapse," Kerr said.

"The games are nothing but a bunch of possessions stacked together. You have to execute and we've made some defensive mistakes. In that fourth quarter, I think we had a decent lead, 10-12 point lead in the fourth.

"Made some defensive mistakes and had some really bad offensive possessions and they got the momentum right back. So at this point, we're not good enough to consistently close games and we've got to keep working towards that."
