Paarl Royals have an opportunity to cement a place in the top three this weekend, while Pretoria Capitals will look to firm their grip on top spot.

Paarl Royals have a busy weekend and they kick off the action against local rivals MI Cape Town at Boland Park on Saturday afternoon.

JP Duminy's side lost by eight wickets in their first meeting at Newlands on the opening day of the season and will be targeting an improved performance on home soil.

The Cape Winelands outfit are second in the standings on nine points after they beat Durban's Super Giants by 10 runs on Tuesday.

Bjorn Fortuin was named Player of the Match thanks to his efforts with the ball as he ripped through the visitors' top order to finish with figures of 3/14 in four overs.

"[New ball] Presents wicket-taking opportunities so [I] got to make the most of it. Nice to perform in front of [my] home crowd," Fortuin said in his post-match interview.

"Whoever's in front of me it's my job to restrict them. There are challenges as a bowler, but [I] try to take advantage of the conditions."

Simon Katich's side are third and have the same amount of points as the Royals but have played one game more.

The Mother City outfit went down to Sunrisers Eastern Cape by two wickets most recently, which was their third defeat on the spin after winning their opening two matches.

Later in the day, Joburg Super Kings will be looking to kickstart their campaign against Sunrisers Eastern Cape at St George's Park.

Stephen Fleming's side prop up the table on eight points after losing to Pretoria Capitals by six wickets in a local derby on Wednesday.

It was their second meeting in two days, with the Super Kings having won their first encounter by six runs at Wanderers.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers will be hoping to build on recent back-to-back victories over MI Cape Town both home and away earlier in the week.

Marco Jansen scooped the Man-of-the-Match award for his knock of 66 from just 27 balls on Wednesday, with Rashid Khan in particular coming in for some tap as he went for 53 runs from his four overs.

Asked if he had targeted Khan, Jansen replied: "At that stage, we had to make a plan, we had to pick one bowler. After the first ball went for six, I just decided to see what happens and try and go with it."

A quick turnaround for Paarl Royals sees them take on SA 20 leaders Pretoria Capitals at Boland Park on Sunday afternoon.

Graham Ford's side bounced back from their first defeat of the season by getting swift revenge on Joburg Super Kings in midweek to open up a four-point lead at the summit.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape also play for the second time in the space of 24 hours when Durban's Super Giants visit St George's Park.

The KZN outfit lost to Paarl Royals by 10 runs at Boland Park on Wednesday, having beaten them by 27 runs in Durban two days prior.
