South Africa has seen a new wave of young talent emerge on the global football stage, and despite no national success as of yet, the future does look promising for some of these rising stars. We’re taking a look at some key South African individuals, what clubs they play for and what leagues you can bet on if you’re looking to back these future pros.

Sphephelo Sithole

Sphephelo S'Miso "Yaya" Sithole began his international career in the Sporting u19 squad and is currently playing for Belenenses SAD in the Portuguese league. At just 23 years old, he has a bright future ahead of him and we’re excited to see what waves he can make in LigaPro.

Lyle Foster

After making his professional debut in 2017, Lyle Brent Foster is well-travelled across international football. After stints at Orlando Pirates and Monaco B, he eventually made his way to Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League where he scored 8 goals in 21 matches. Recently he attracted the eye of Burnley, who are currently frontrunners of the EFL Championship in England, which means we could be seeing big things from Lyle very soon.

Kurt Abrahams

After a 3-season stretch at Westerlo, Kurt Abrahams made the move to Deinze in the Belgian First Division B where he played 25 matches in the 2021/22 season. Currently without a club home, it’ll be interesting to see which team picks up the promising right winger.

Lebogang Phiri

After a spell in the French Ligue 1, 28-year old Lebogang Phiri is currently playing as a defensive midfielder for Paris FC in Ligue 2 and has made 25 appearances for the club with 1 goal. Sitting mid-table currently, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on Paris FC and what moves Lebogang can make.
