Morocco will lock horns with Malawi in a 2021
Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 match on January 25.
The Atlas Lions eased into the knockout phase after finishing at the top of Group C ahead of Gabon, who finished second.
Morocco fought back to hold Gabon to a 2-2 draw in their last group game which was played in Yaounde on January 18.
As a result, the Atlas Lions are undefeated in their last three matches in this competition having recorded two victories and one draw.
Meanwhile, Malawi reached the Round of 16 for the first time in the history of the AFCON finals after finishing third in Group B behind Senegal and Guinea.
The Flames managed to hold one of the tournament hosts, Senegal to a 0-0 draw in their last group match which was played in Bafoussam on January 18.
Malawi are undefeated in their last two matches in this competition having registered one draw and one victory which came against Zimbabwe.
"It's a tremendous achievement for Malawi to be able to get four points as we have been adapting a different system and the players managed to adapt and now we are on cloud nine," Malawi coach Mario Marinica said
"We played for the entire Malawi nation as the country has been experiencing problems like flooding and the good performance has given them a new spirit and encouragement.
"We have achieved our mission in the tournament despite myself and other players having suffered from Covid the team has been strong as we implemented our strategy against our tough opponents ".
The last meeting between Morocco and Malawi was on 22 March 2019.
The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in the 2019 AFCON qualifier which was played at the Kamuzu Stadium in Malawi.
