Groupama-FDJ looking for home comforts in Tour de France

French team Groupama-FDJ will look for a strong showing at the 2019 Tour de France, when the 106th edition of the world’s most famous cycling race gets underway on Saturday July 6.

Groupama are managed by Marc Madiot, the former road bicycle racer and winner of the Paris–Roubaix classic in 1985 and 1991.

Their key man is Thibaut Pinot, who famously won in Porrentruy in 2012 when he was just 22-years-old and finished third two years later.

Pinot missed the 2018 TDF after being hospitalised with exhaustion at the Giro d’Italia but is back in good form and raring to put on a show for the French supporters.

The start of the 2019 Tour (known as the Grand Départ) will be in Brussels in honour of the 50th anniversary of the first Tour de France win of the great Eddy Merckx.

The 100th anniversary of the yellow jersey will be celebrated on 19 July. Throughout the race, an individual jersey design will be issued for each day's race leader.
