Germany and Mexico will square off at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final match at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia on Thursday. Nicknamed Die Mannschaft, Germany defeated Cameroon 3-1 in their last Group B match which was played in Sochi on Sunday. The World Cup champions won Group B with seven points having drawn with Chile and defeated Australia, and Cameroon. Mexico, who are nicknamed El Tricolor, overcame Russia 2-1 in their last Group A match which was played in Kazan on Saturday. The North American champions finished second in Group A having drawn with Portugal, before defeating New Zealand and Russia. Germany and Mexico advanced to the semi-finals after finishing as Group B winners and Group A runners-up. The two nations have met 10 times and Germany have dominated winning four matches compared to Mexico's one victory.
