Honda rider Marc Marquez won last year's French Grand Prix and it was his third title in France.

However, Marquez, who is the reigning MotoGP world champion, remains injured and he will not be able to defend his title in Le Mans.

Ducati duo of Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci finished second, and third respectively in last year's race.

Yamaha rider Fabian Quarataro is now placed at the top of the 2020 riders' standings with 108 points after winning the most recent race which was the 2020 Catalan Grand Prix.

Suzuki duo of Joan Mir and Alex Rins finished second and third respectively in an enthralling race.

Mir is now placed second on the riders' standings with 100 points, while Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales is sitting on the third spot with 90 points.

Marquez says watching rivals fail to capitalise on the opportunities of an open Championship title fight is motivating his recovery efforts as a potential comeback looms later this month.

The 27-year-old is placed at the bottom of the riders' standings without a single point, but he remains hopeful of competing again this season.,

"Watching the races from home creates some anxiety, anger, but that's what you have to do. Seeing that the rivals do not score many points makes you want to come back,"  Marquez said in a Repsol Q&A.

“Both mentally and physically I feel good. I would return tomorrow for myself, but it will not be tomorrow. I think it will be sooner rather than later.

“My mentality will be the same: Try to be on the limit, force my arm, but always within the doctors' deadlines. And when I get back up on the bike, my approach will be the same: attack," he added.

“So when I come back I have to be in good physical condition. The arm will have to be at 80 or 90 percent to try to be fast from the start.”

Yamaha are sitting at the top of Manufacturers' Championship standings with 163 points.

Ducati and Suzuki are placed second and third with 126 and 113 points respectively on the standings.
