9-12 February 2023

Jon Rahm will be looking to make history by becoming the first Spanish golfer to win the WM Phoenix Open.

What to know about Rahm

The man nicknamed Rahmbo was a number one golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a record 60 weeks and later became world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Rahmbo became the first Spanish golfer to win the US Open in 2021 and it remains his only Major championship win, but he has won 18 professional tournaments including nine PGA Tour events.

Currently ranked third in the Official World Golf Ranking, the 28-year-old is one of the best golfers in the world and he is a perennial contender in the WM Phoenix Open.

Latest News

The Arizona-based golfer is coming into the Phoenix Open having competed in last month's Farmers' Insurance Open in San Diego, California.

Rahm was two shots behind leader Sam Ryder going into the final round, but a final round 74 saw him finish in a tie for seventh place and it remains the last professional tournament he featured in.

Max Homa won the Farmers' Insurance Open after he came from behind with a final round six-under par 66 to win by two shots over Keegan Bradley.

Why Rahm is among favourites

Rahm has enjoyed an electrifying start to 2023, winning two of his first five appearances in back-to-back fashion on the PGA Tour calendar.

The Barrika-born golfer won the Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express, and finished in the Top-10 in his other three starts in the current PGA Tour campaign.

Furthermore, Rahm, who was named 2021 PGA Player of the Year, is currently the 2023 FedExCup Points leader.

Quotes

"Body's been feeling great. My swing's been feeling really, really good," Rahm said after winning The American Express last month.

"And it shows, right? Even when I'm saying I may not be as comfortable as I would like, I'm shooting 64s because everything is just firing when it needs to.

“Had I had the same putting I had on Saturday or Friday it probably would’ve been a runaway victory, but I can't ask for everything. You learn in every single situation, and today was definitely a stressful day.”
