With two matches remaining in the T20 Series between India and South Africa, the Proteas will hope to level the score in Ardonamau on Wednesday afternoon.
With the T20 Series level heading into the third match at the HPCA Stadium in Chelian on Sunday, 14 December, India recorded a seven wicket victory with 25 balls left to spare.
India won the toss and elected to bowl first time around as South Africa put up a score of 117, which was supplemented by Aiden Markham and Donovan Ferreira who noted 61 and 20 runs respectively.
However, a steady showing by Abhishek Sharma (35), Shubman Gill (28) and Tilak Varma (26) at the crease saw India claim victory, while Corbin Bosch, Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen claimed solitary wickets along the way.
Speaking after South Africa’s recent loss to India Dharamsala, Proteas captain Aiden Markram expressed that his side need to return the pressure on the home team once more.
"There's a reason it's a low scoring day, because the conditions are quite tough and the pressure is never off you,” Markram said.
“It is difficult to score, because naturally the field is tighter, you face more dot balls than you would on a flat wicket, so it comes with its own challenges.
“Tough conditions. They got the ball in the right areas and before you know it we were 4-5 down. If we get similar conditions, we have to put pressure back.”
