2025/26 Premier League

Matchday 17

Manchester City v West Ham United

Etihad Stadium
Manchester, England
Saturday, 20 December 2025
Kick-off is at 17h00

Manchester City will be targeting nothing but a win when they face West Ham United in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on 20 December.

Current Form

The Citizens thrashed a hapless Crystal Palace side 3-0 away on 14 December and they are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run in the league.

However, City are undefeated in their last seven home matches in the Premier League, having recorded seven back-to-back victories at the Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile, West Ham lost 3-2 to Aston Villa at home on 14 December as they extended their winless run to five matches in the league.

The Hammers are also winless in their last six matches on the road in the Premier League, having recorded two successive defeats and four draws as the away side.

Team News

Jeremy Doku, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic and Rodri are the players on City's injury list and there are no suspension concerns for the Manchester giants.

On the other hand, West Ham have Lukasz Fabianski as the only player on their injury list, but the London-based side does not have suspension concerns.

Quotes

“Frustrating is the word. It was a frustrating game. We showed good things and unfortunately today wasn’t on our side," West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola said after his side's defeat to Villa.

"The score wasn’t for us and we have to work harder and to stick together, that’s the main thing. “There are small details that we have to correct. Now we have to watch the game again and see where it went wrong. We’re trying hard to fight for every single ball, but then the opponent has the quality as well.

"So it’s up to us now to be stronger mentally, physically and ready for the next game. It’s frustrating to speak after a loss, but we’re here for that [situation]. As I said, we have to stick together, really push harder and just correct all the details that weren’t on our side.”

Head-to-Head

City thrashed West Ham 4-1 in their last meeting in the league, which was in January 2025 at the Etihad Stadium.

Therefore, the Citizens are undefeated in their last 19 matches in the Premier League against the Peacocks, having recorded 16 wins and three draws.
