Shaun Norris is bidding to become only the third player to defend his
Alfred Dunhill Championship title as the event returns to the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club for the first time since 2004.
The South African claimed his second win on the DP World Tour when he carded a 13-under 275 to beat John Parry, Ryan van Velzen and Marcus Kinhult by one stroke in 2024.
Only Pablo Martin (2009, 2010) and Charl Schwartzel (2012, 2013) have successfully defended the trophy, with the latter holding the distinction as the sole four-time winner.
Norris finished 32nd in the Race to Dubai rankings last season and the tournament on home soil was his only victory, although he came close to adding the Joburg Open to that list after coming joint-second.
The 43-year-old achieved another four top 10s, having placed T6 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T9 at the MyGolfLife Open and T9 at the Investec South African Open Championship.
Norris' first outing of the 2026 campaign saw him finish fifth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, six strokes behind winner Kristoffer Reitan and one of three local players to place in the top five.
The Johannesburg native has been a regular fixture at the Alfred Dunhill Championship down the years, making his debut in 2005 and going on to play in the tournament 15 times.
