Daniel Brown will be hoping to secure his first win of the 2025/26 Sunshine Tour and European Tour campaign at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in his season debut.
What to know about Brown
The English golfer's notable amateur achievements include winning the North of England Open Amateur in 2016 and the prestigious English Men's Amateur Championship in 2016 at Ganton Golf Club.
Since turning professional in 2017, Brown has been crowned champion four times, winning two European Tour events and two tournaments which are part of the Evolve Pro Tour.
News
The last time the 2015 Dutch Junior Open winner was in action in a professional event was at last season's DP World Tour Championship in the UAE, where he finished 45th in November 2025.
Brown is placed 72nd in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and it is also his best overall ranking coming into the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Why Brown is among the favourites
The Northallerton-born golfer tasted success in 2025 as he was crowned champion at the BMW International Open by two shots over Jordan Smith in July - securing his second win as a professional golfer in the process.
Brown then finished second in the Open de España behind his compatriot Marco Penge in October and the 31-year-old is now targeting the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title, having finished third in the 2023 edition.
Quotes
"I lost a friend at home last weekend. I don't know what to say really, but that was for him," Brown said after winning the 2025 BMW International Open.
"The last two days I've been thinking about him to try and take my mind off it, obviously try not to get too emotional in the process. I'm not too sure what happened today. Like all day, it was an out-of-body experience. Obviously nerves, and then thinking about the importance of winning a golf tournament.
"It sort of played it down with what happened. I suppose he was there with me and it made it a lot easier."
