2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 17

Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur

King Power Stadium
Leicester, England
Thursday, 16 December 2021
Kick-off is at 21h30

Leicester City will be targeting just their third home Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur in seven years at the King Power Stadium on December 16.

The Foxes have struggled to get the better of Spurs in the East Midlands, with their last victory coming in September 2019 - only the second time they had done so since returning to the top flight in 2014.

The north Londoners enjoy playing in Leicester, having scored 17 goals on their last seven visits to Filbert Way and securing some big wins along the way, including a 6-1 hammering in May 2017 which is a club record.

You have to go all the back to 1935 for the Leicestershire outfit's biggest triumph on home soil against this opposition - a 6-0 mauling in the old Division One.

Spurs ran out 4-2 victors in the corresponding fixture last term, with the Foxes winning 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier in the campaign.

Leicester defender Luke Thomas admits luck hasn't been on their side this season, but believes there is enough time to turn their fortunes around.

"It's been a difficult season so far. We've not quite got the rub of the green in games. We know we can turn that around so quickly," Thomas told LCFC TV.

"We've still got more than half of the season to go and we know we can get to the places we want to be in at the end of the season."

Antonio Conte heard his name ring out around the stadium in the recent 3-0 win over Norwich City and while he is grateful for the warm support, the Italian feels he has a responsibility to deliver for the fans.

"Honestly, first of all I want to say thanks to all the fans that sung my name," Conte said. "In one hand, I'm very happy, very enthusiastic for this.

"On the other hand, I feel a lot of responsibility towards our fans. I think they trust a lot in my work and to listen to my name it was good, also because I have just arrived only one month I've been here and for sure I have this responsibility to deserve this and maybe it is too early.

"I want to show in the future I deserve this. I think the good result helps you, but I want to deserve if the fans decide to sing my name for my work, for my involvement in this club, in this situation.”
