Cup Final Fever - Pirates & SuperSport Target Record

It’s cup final weekend in South Africa, so of course my focus for this week’s tips are on the clash between SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates…

It’s the second year in a row that the two have met in the Nedbank Cup final, and they’re both bidding to become the first team to win the tournament three times in it’s current format. Pirates haven’t won a trophy since 2014 – unimaginable for a club of their stature – but Stuart Baxter’s record against them will be worrying having only lost once to the Buccaneers in 14 matches.

I think it’s going to be a very tough game that could quite easily go to extra time and penalties, but I suppose I’ve got to put my money where my keyboard is, haven’t I? Well I’m going to go for SuperSport, but to make it a bit more interesting I’m going to go for a halftime draw with a Matsatsantsa win after 90 minutes. R50 on that will pick you up nearly R250. I’ll also be putting a bit of money on Jeremy Brockie to score. He loves the Nedbank Cup and has scored eight goals in 13 games since his arrival in South Africa – including one in last year’s final. Also, because I like doing accumulators, I’m going to hedge my bets on there a little bit with the Nedbank and Confederations Cup taking place in Russia at the moment. I’m going to go for a double chance on a SuperSport win/draw, and do the same with a Russia win/draw v Mexico. On top of that I’ll add wins for Germany, Portugal and Chile for this weekends games.

Good luck, and make sure you click the banners on this page if you want to follow my picks
