The Subway Series clash between New York Mets and New York Yankees will headline Major League Baseball (MLB) action between 21-27 August.

Every historic and current venue for such games has been accessible via the New York City Subway, hence the name of the series and they will meet on August 21.

Yankees remain at the top of the American League East standings with 15 wins, while a struggling Mets side is placed fourth on the National League East table with nine wins.

With Yoenis Céspedes electing not to play the rest of the season, fit-again Robinson Cano may see significant time at DH as the Mets look to keep his 37-year-old legs healthy.

That should open up additional time for Andres Gimenez and Luis Guillorme, who started Friday at second base against Philadelphia Phillies.
