The defending champions cruised to a 2-0 win over a 10-man Chelsea side on the back of a Sadio Mane brace last weekend, having beaten Leeds United 4-3 on the opening day of the league season.

"It's always a tough game here [at Stamford Bridge]. I liked the first half. It was two teams that wanted to play, create, defend and make things happen," head coach Jurgen Klopp said in the aftermath.

For the fans

"They were the dominant side without goals but then a massive game-changer in the last seconds [of the first-half] which was good for us. We had to adapt to that and we did."

Arsenal followed a 3-0 win away to Fulham with a hard fought 2-1 victory over West Ham United in a game Gunners manager Mikel Arteta feels his side would've drawn or lost a few months ago.

"We made it even more difficult for ourselves with the amount of balls we gave away and spaces we left for the opponent," Arteta said in reflection.

“But I’m glad we found the right moment and reactions; we kept competing and believing in the final 20 minutes to win the game. There are still a lot of things we need to get better at.”

Liverpool won the corresponding fixture 3-1 last season thanks in large part to a brace from Mohamed Salah. Arsenal won the two most recent meetings between the two teams across all competitions, claiming a 2-1 win at Emirates Stadium in July and victory on penalties following a 1-1 draw in last month's Community Shield clash.

Arsenal's last win at Anfield came way back in 2012 when goals from Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla spearheaded the visitors to a 2-0 victory.
