The Detroit Pistons will be geared for the challenge of facing the Los Angeles Laker in a
2020-21 NBA Regular Season game at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on the morning of 29 January 2021, with tip-off at 03:00 CAT.
The Pistons have struggled to pick up wins on a consistent basis so far in the 2020-21 season, though their roster (one of the youngest in the NBA) has shown signs of great promise. Coach Dwane Casey insists that the only way his youthful team will toughen up and gain experience for the future is by going through some tough games in the present.

“We did everything the right way,” said the Pistons coach. “Again, the problem with youth is down the stretch you have to learn how to close the deal. What play can I get away with in crunch time versus the second quarter? Those are the things we gotta learn and the only way to learn is by going through the fire, and that’s what we’re doing right now and unfortunately against some really good teams."
The Lakers, meanwhile, have found themselves reflecting on the fact that more than a year has passed since the tragic death of franchise legend Kobe Bryant. Stars players LeBron James and Anthony Davis admit that they still struggle with his loss.
"Man, it's a saying that time heals all," James explained "And as devastating and as tragic as it was and still is to all of us involved with it, only time. And it takes time. Everyone has their own grieving process."
Davis remarked, "It saddens our hearts to actually come to the realisation that he's gone. I know I still have trouble with it, you still just can't believe it."
In head-to-head terms, the Pistons and the Lakers have met in 340 Regular Season games since 1989-49. Los Angeles have claimed 207 wins compared to 133 for Detroit.
The teams met in just one Regular Season game in 2019-20, with the Lakers claiming a 106-99 away win in January 2020, with a 24-point haul from Anthony Davis.
