Betway lifts spirits in Mangaung

Betway South Africa has headed to Rocklands Township in Mangaung Bloemfontein in our ongoing efforts towards sport and community development. The team has identified a new beneficiary that will allow Betway to continue making a change through sport. Betway will be donating Rugby equipment and kit to the value of R85 000.00 to Mangaung Rugby Club.

The Mangaung Rugby Club competes in the Free State Club Rugby League and was founded in 1994. The intention behind the club was to not only bring the sport of rugby to the Rocklands community but to provide an activity that would act as a diversion or the youth of the crime ridden area. Betway South Africa’s Marketing Manager David Rachidi encouraged the club to continue it’s great work within the community and said Betway is always encouraged by organizations that play such important roles in society.

“While Betway prides itself in being a globally acclaimed sports betting entertainment brand, we draw pleasure from lending a helping hand in our communities through sport. For the past two years, Betway has positively changed the lives of a number of former and current athletes across various sporting codes. With the understanding of how expensive such equipment is for community clubs, this is our way of giving back.” said Rachidi

Club President Peter explained how the club offers an enjoyable and healthy activity that can help prevent young people turning to a life of crime.

“A number of young people in our community struggle to afford tertiary tuition and rugby has become an escape for all forms of crime and substance abuse. We have seen the great work done by Betway throughout the year and feel honoured to have them visiting and assisting us with this much-needed equipment, which is hard to afford for a community club. This will go a long way in helping a continue our work.”

The youth at the club have real heroes to look up to, playing at a club with little resources is tough so when one of your team mates succeed it shows you can too. Recently, 21-year old Otsile Ranthako was noticed by the Free State Cheetahs and was signed to the club. He now competes regularly in the Supersport Rugby Challenge.
